1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device that let a website recognize your browser between visits. We also use browser localStorage for some preferences (like theme), which works similarly but isn't sent to our servers with every request.

2. Strictly necessary cookies (always on)

These cookies are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off — there is no consent option for them, as permitted under both GDPR's ePrivacy rules and Loi n°2013-450, since they're necessary to provide the service you asked for.

• access_token / refresh_token — keep you signed in (httpOnly, cannot be read by page scripts).
• remember_me — remembers whether you chose an extended login session.
• user_data — a small, non-sensitive cookie holding basic profile info so the interface renders instantly on load.
• NEXT_LOCALE — remembers your selected language.
• cookie_consent — remembers the cookie preference choice you make in the banner below, so we don't ask again every visit.

3. Functional cookies (optional)

Used to remember non-essential preferences that improve your experience but aren't required for the Service to work. None are currently set beyond the necessary ones above — this category exists so future preference cookies are covered by your existing consent choice rather than requiring a new prompt.

4. Analytics cookies (optional, not currently active)

ScoutIq does not currently run any analytics tracking (no Google Analytics, no similar tool is active today). This category is included in the cookie banner so that if we add privacy-respecting analytics in the future, it launches already gated behind your existing consent choice rather than changing your settings without asking.

5. Marketing cookies (optional, not currently active)

ScoutIq does not currently use any advertising or marketing pixels/trackers. As with analytics, this category exists so any future addition respects a choice you've already made, rather than defaulting to "on."

6. Third-party cookies

If you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies during that authentication flow, governed by Google's own privacy policy — these aren't controlled by us and aren't covered by the toggles below.

7. Managing your preferences

You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the site footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings (which will show the banner again on your next visit).

8. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy if the cookies we use change materially, reflected in the "last updated" date above.
